Hospitalist - Physician - (Hospital Medicine) Locum Tenens
StartDate: A! SAP Available Shifts: 12 Hour/Day
Growing hospitalist program in eastern Illinois facility, 30 minutes from St. Louis, MO, is in need of a board certified or eligible physician. Facility seeks a great physician (Family Practice, Internist or Hospitalist) for temporary coverage from December 2013 - October 2014. The schedule is 7 days on/7 days off; Monday - Sunday 7a - 7p. There will be an average of 15 patients per shift.
A hospitalist (locum tenens) is a physician that is generally Internal Medicine residency trained but can be from Family Medicine or other sub-specialty programs. They specialize in the care of patients who have been admitted into a hospital. These general medicine professionals perform a variety of roles in the hospital and, accordingly, must be familiar with the entirety of human physiology and a wide range of illnesses and medical conditions. Hospitalists complete residencies in internal medicine, much like primary care physicians. Wh! en patients arrive to the hospital, a hospitalist will take ca! re of them, prescribing treatment as needed, before referring them to a specialist or discharging them from the facility.
