The Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Progr! am and Site Director is responsible for the general administration of the Department of Medicine Internal Medicine Residency program, at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center relating to the recruitment, selection, instruction, supervision, counseling, evaluation, and advancement of our Internal Medicine Residents. In addition to identifying and addressing programmatic issues, this position is responsible for the maintenance of records related to program accreditation in keeping with ACGME guidelines. Essential D! uties & Responsibilities
- Dedicate an average of at least 10 hours per week to the administrative and educational aspects of the educational program, as delegated by the program director.
- Assist in the general administration of the program, including those activities related to the recruitment, selection, instruction, supervision, counseling, evaluation, and advancement of residents, as well as the maintenance of records related to program accreditation.
- Report directly to the program director for programmatic issues.
- Participate in academic societies and in educational programs designed to enhance their educational and administrative skills.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Current certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or possess qualifications acceptable to the generalist training of residents, whether they themselves were trained a! s general internists or as subspecialists.
- Be an institutional! ly-based faculty appointee.
- Documented clinical and academic experience to ensure effective implementation of the program requirements.
- Broad knowledge of experience with and commitment to internal medicine as a discipline.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Effective English language speaking, reading, and writing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work/interact with diverse populations.
