CHICAGORush University Medical Center DIVISION DIRECTOR GENERAL INTERNAL MEDICINE and PRIMARY CARE The Department of Internal Medicine at Rush University ! Medical Center, located in downtown Chicago, is seeking a Division Director for their General Internal Medicine and Primary Care program. The Director will have the overall responsibility of providing strategic direction, effective leadership, and management of the Division of General Internal Medicine and the Corporate Primary Care Practices while supporting the department's overall mission.The successful academic internist will have a strong background in the clinical, academic, and administrative functions of a general internal medicine practice. Ideal candidates will also have strong interest in medical education, research and or primary care practice development. The selected candidate will also have completed internal medicine residency training from an ACGME-accredited program, hold active board certification from the ABIM, and have the ability to obtain licensure in the State of Illinois.
Excellent communication skills and dynamic leadership skills are impe! rative, and administrative experience in an academic environme! nt is preferred. The candidate should be eligible for faculty appointment in Rush Medical College at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. The Division currently consists of approximately 93 clinical and clinician educator faculty. The Department of Internal Medicine is also home to a three year residency program with 124 core positions and Rush Medical College Students.
The outpatient primary care practices see over 40,000 patients each year generating 125,000 visits, with over half from general internal medicine practices. In this role, the chief will be responsible for maintaining the highest clinical standards and excellence in patient care, expanding and strengthening the clinical practices through enhanced operational effectiveness, and for providing an environment of outstanding medical education. The division has a large number of faculty leading both medical student and housestaff programs. Seven primary care practices at Rush recently received des! ignation as a medical home from The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
These are the first physician practices at an academic medical center in Illinois to receive the prestigious NCQA's Physician Practice Connections - Patient Centered Medical Home (PPC-PCMH) level 3 designation- the highest recognition level awarded by NCQA. These practices serve more than 43,000 patients. This puts Rush among an elite group of primary care practices in Illinois that have received PPC-PCMH designation. The individual will also collaborate across the organization to develop and implement the enterprise-wide strategic goals and objectives focused on Ambulatory, Primary and Accountable Care.
